Repentance is a change of mind - a complete change from what pleases sin to what pleases God. We need saving and we need to say that we're sorry - no excuses or explanations necessary.

Ezra's anger regarding the sins of the people around him didn't lead to judgement or gossip - it led to intercessory repentance for ALL of them!
